HelloYears helps you record memories, take part in AI interviews and edit a memoir. We store the account details, narrator profile, interview recordings and text, memories and drafts you provide. Your browser asks for microphone permission before recording.

Service providers and processing locations

The application runs on Cloudflare Workers. Recordings are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket, and account and story records are stored in Supabase PostgreSQL in Oregon, United States. Relevant text and audio are sent to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio for AI interviews, speech recognition, writing and speech generation. The current AI configuration uses a Beijing endpoint, so AI processing may take place in China. These providers process data under their respective terms and policies.

Voice cloning

Creating a voice requires separate consent from the person whose voice is used. If you choose this feature, the reference recording is sent to Alibaba Cloud to create a voice profile. Contact hello@helloyears.com to withdraw voice-cloning consent and request removal of a voice profile.

Access and retention

Your project requires account access and is separate from other customers’ projects. Authorized administrators can access project material to provide support; sensitive administrative actions are audited. Original interview recordings are retained with your project so a failed transcription does not discard the recording. Hosting and AI providers may retain operational logs according to their own policies.

Export and deletion

Your account privacy page lets you download a structured export of your story text and request account deletion. Deletion has a 14-day cancellation period. Once due, a daily maintenance job removes the account’s private recordings and associated voice profiles before removing project records. Temporary provider failures can delay completion. Contact us if you need help obtaining recordings or checking deletion status.
